Gran Canaria is the third largest of the Canary Islands and is 210km off the northwest coast of Africa. The island is known for its varied micro-climates and its diverse landscape including its stunning volcanic areas. In recent years Gran Canaria has become popular with tourists.
Beach lovers will find a range of fantastic beaches with golden sands and clear blue waters. Particularly on the southern side of the island where tourism is most prominant. Watersports are also popular here, the sea provides excellent surfing conditions.
Other attractions on the island are its sights, museums, theatres and concert halls. Of a night the towns come to life with many bars, nightclubs and restaurants to choose from.
